an S–F (Slow–Fast) regulator adjustment slot near the 12 o'clock position,
the iconic Broad Arrow (Crowsfeet) mark indicating official British War Department or Ministry service.
Markings: Clearly stamped with "SMITHS ENGLISH CLOCKS LTD, LONDON" and the production year "1940" right at the onset of World War II.
Movement stamped Coventry Astral and number 123
