Description:Original pre-WWII U.S. Army tropical khaki service coat, dating to the mid-to-late 1930s and configured for an Infantry Sergeant serving in the Philippine Department. The standout feature is the scarce theater-made Philippine Department shoulder patch. Unlike later standardized U.S.-made examples, this one has the distinctive hand-worked look associated with locally produced Philippine insignia: a woven blue field with the white sea-lion-and-sword design individually embroidered, giving it the irregular, handcrafted character collectors look for in genuine prewar theater-made pieces. The coat retains U.S. and crossed-rifle collar disks, Sergeant chevrons, and three service stripes for long service. The early four-pocket tropical khaki pattern further supports the prewar dating.A very strong, untouched-looking Philippine Department uniform with a particularly desirable locally made SSI—an excellent piece for collectors of Philippine Scouts, prewar Army, Bataan/Corregidor, and early Pacific theater material.Note: the buttons are all modern replacements however the rest of the insignia is as found when acquired. Shows honest age and wear consistent with the period. Please review photos carefully for condition and measurements.
