1924 Long Beach, NY Bathing Group Vintage Snapshot Photograph
Original 1924 black and white snapshot photograph of four young friends — two men and two women — in 1920s wool tank swimsuits (bathing costumes), posing together on the beach at Long Beach, New York. Dated September 7, 1924. One woman wears a light cardigan over her bathing suit. A beach pavilion/boardwalk structure with railings and other beachgoers can be seen in the background.
Wonderful 1920s swimwear and bathing-beauty fashion: classic wool bathing costumes of the era. A great piece for collectors of vintage swimwear photography, beach culture ephemera, and Americana.
The back of the photograph is inscribed in green ink \"9/7/24\" and \"Long Beach, N.Y.\" with a blue \"261\" stamp, along with the names of the subjects in blue ink: \"Sid Sapper / Rene / Al Nevius / Mildred Hallquist.\" A charming piece of vernacular photography — the Long Beach, NY location is confirmed by the back inscription. One of the women, Rene, also appears in a companion 1926 Three Lakes, Wisconsin lakeside photograph.
Condition: vintage original photograph, paper print, measures 3 x 4 1/2 inches. Please note there are black ink spots on the BACK of the photo only (see back photo); the image side is unaffected.
