Here's a beautiful, working 1923 Radiola AC two-stage radio amplifier, the companion to the Westinghouse Aeriola Sr. radio and the RCA Radiola Sr. radio. The amp has been expertly, lovingly restored, and it comes with two good VT-24 tubes (1 volt WD-11 equivalent). Looking pretty much like it did the day that it was made more than a century ago, the amp will be ready to display and play as soon as it arrives.
As you can see in the photos, the amplifier is gorgeous. The panel is perfect, with no scratches, no scarring, no dull or muddy areas, and lettering that's crisp and clear everywhere.
Nickel-plated parts are likewise in excellent condition -- clean and gleaming . There's no rust, no corrosion, no problems. The binding posts, the panel screws, the screws securing the parts on the underside of the panel to the bakelite -- all of this hardware is still bright and clean.
Inside, the chassis looks like you'd expect given the condition of the exterior. The original open frame AF transformers have been rebuilt, and the socket contacts have been modified to accommodate the pin-out of the VT-24 tubes, but the amp is otherwise "as issued" and in excellent condition, with no problems.
The cabinet is likewise in excellent condition, with a smooth a finish on all sides. The original RCA data plate on the underside of the lid is pristine, as you can see in the photographs.
Overall, a beautiful Westinghouse box amplifier that's ready to go, without need for clean-up, repair or apologies.
If you want to operate the amp, you'll need a regulated DC power supply (I'd recommend an ARBEIII) and an appropriate matching radio.
In the video above, for demonstration purposes, the amp is connected to its matching Westinghouse Aeriola Sr. radio, which is being listed separately. You are buying only the amplifier.
I'm one of 's best known, most highly regarded sellers of antique radios, and I specialize in radios and radio-related items from the 1920's. I've been selling and shipping them for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique radio from me, you'll receive a radio that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a radio from a rocket ship), Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
