Description
Offered is a vintageStutz “RA” design radiator-cap mascot, depicting the Egyptian sun god Ra, a distinctive mascot design associated with Stutz automobiles of the Classic Era.
The ornament features the recognizable human face, deeply ribbed Egyptian-style headdress, central serpent/cobra detail, long horizontal wings and spiral detail at the rear. It is mounted on a substantial radiator-cap assembly with a heavily ribbed outer edge.
The mascot clearly follows theStutz Ra design. However, this example doesnot show the S.M.C. Co. inscription normally associated with documented factory examples. Therefore, I am not representing it as a positively authenticated factory-original Stutz/S.M.C. mascot. Exact manufacturer, production date and vehicle application remain unverified.
Condition
This is an old, unrestored piece showing substantial age and use. The silver-colored plated finish hasoxidation, tarnishing, plating loss, pitting, scratches, discoloration and general surface wearthroughout. There are areas where the underlying metal is visible and considerable age-related deterioration to the finish.
The mascot retains strong overall detail and presents well as an antique display piece despite the surface wear.
Please examine all photographs carefully. No claim is made that the radiator cap will fit a particular Stutz model or year.Exact fitment, dimensions and mounting compatibility should be verified by the buyer before purchase.
The black stand shown in the photographs is for display and isnot original to the radiator cap.
A striking piece for a collection ofStutz, Bearcat, Classic Era automobiles, radiator mascots or vintage hood ornaments.
All photographs show the actual item being sold and should be considered part of the description.
