Original Canadian photographic postcard depicting the celebrated racing and fishing schooner Bluenose under full sail. The image is captioned “Bluenose, International Champion, Lunenberg, N.S.” and credited to noted Lunenburg photographer J.E. Knickle. The spelling “Lunenberg” appears on the original card; the Nova Scotia town is properly spelled Lunenburg.Launched at Lunenburg in 1921, Bluenose became an internationally recognized symbol of Canadian maritime skill. She earned fame as both a working fishing schooner and a racing champion under Captain Angus Walters. Her image later appeared on the Canadian dime and became inseparable from the maritime identity of Nova Scotia. The reverse is marked “Made in Canada” and carries a handwritten travel notation reading “Lunenburg, June ’59” followed by an apparent reference to lunch at the Bluenose Restaurant. The card has no stamp or postal cancellation. The 1959 inscription records later travel use and should not be interpreted as the printing date.A strong crossover item for collectors of Canadian history, Nova Scotia, schooner racing, fishing vessels and maritime photography.Condition: Unposted but written vintage condition with light corner and edge wear, mild surface marks and spotting, and a dark mark near the top of the forward mast.
