Description
Original 1919 Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) featuring the famous WWI troop transport USS Princess Matoika.
This authentic silver gelatin postcard depicts the USS Princess Matoika at dock with U.S. Navy Freight Lighter No. 53 alongside. The photographic negative is captioned:
“THE SHIP THAT BROUGHT US HOME”
making this a wonderful souvenir produced for American soldiers returning from Europe after World War I.
Printed on genuine AZO photographic paper with the desirable 2 Up / 2 Down triangle stamp box, dating the postcard to approximately 1918–1930, with this example almost certainly produced in 1919 during the Army repatriation period.
