This 1916 postal card from the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks announces the death of Brother Theodore L. Wood, with funeral services held at the Elks’ Home at 14th and California Streets and interment at Denver’s historic Fairmount Cemetery.
The notice also reports the passing of Brother H. H. Hake in Los Angeles. At the time, Denver’s Elks Lodge was a prominent fraternal hub, active in charitable works and social life. Fairmount Cemetery, founded in 1890, remains one of Colorado’s largest and most significant burial grounds.
