Excellent vintage real photo postcard showing the flooded main street of Spiceland, Indiana following the heavy rains of March 1913.
The image shows a horse-drawn wagon traveling through the flooded street with numerous townspeople gathered along the sidewalk. A water tower dominates the background, and the Post Office storefront is clearly visible at right. Wonderful detail throughout, including early commercial buildings, utility poles, horses, wagons, and residents.
The reverse is handwritten and dated March 25, 1913, specifically identifying the scene as the “Main street in Spiceland” after the big rain and referencing flooding in Dayton and Indianapolis.
A particularly desirable Indiana RPPC combining a documented 1913 flood, small-town street scene, horse-drawn transportation, post office, and identifiable location.
Condition shows expected age and handling wear. Please review photos carefully for condition.
