Antique 1906 political campaign ribbon issued for the Pennsylvania “Lincoln Party,” supporting gubernatorial candidate Lewis Emery Jr.
This original silk “Watcher” ribbon would have been worn by an official party poll watcher on election day, November 6, 1906. These ribbons were produced in limited quantities and are far less common than later political buttons.
The ribbon features a portrait of Abraham Lincoln at the top with bold “LINCOLN PARTY WATCHER” text, followed by the full slate of candidates:
- Lewis Emery Jr. (Governor)
- Jeremiah S. Black (Lieutenant Governor)
- William T. Creasy (Auditor General)
- John J. Green (Secretary of Internal Affairs)
Details:
- Date: 1906 election
- Material: Silk
- Type: Political campaign / election day ribbon
- Region: Pennsylvania
Collector Notes:
Early 20th century political textiles are increasingly sought after, particularly pre-WWI ribbons tied to specific state elections. The “Watcher” designation and Lincoln Party wording add to its historical interest.
A scarce and authentic piece of Pennsylvania political history.
