This beautiful antique green transferware commemorative plate features a central illustration of the schooner yacht Meteor, launched on February 25, 1902. It was manufactured by the Onondaga Pottery Co. (Syracuse China) in New York to commemorate the vessel built by Townsend-Downey Ship Building Co. for H.I.M. the Emperor of Germany (Kaiser Wilhelm II). The rim is decorated with both the American eagle and the German Imperial eagle under the Prussian crown.
