A wonderfully preserved and complete July 13, 1901 issue of Harper’s Weekly, packed with richly detailed illustrations, political commentary, early advertising, social history, and beautiful full-page artwork from the golden age of illustrated American publishing.
This issue retains its original front cover featuring the humorous “Midsummer Politics” illustration by W. A. Rogers, along with period advertising pages and a wide variety of highly displayable interior artwork.
Featured contents include striking full-page and multi-image spreads such as:
- Opening of the Bathing Season at Narragansett Pier
- Battles of the United States Army – The Storming of Stony Point
- A Popular Summer Watering-Place
- Torrid Weather in New York and Vicinity
- Columbia yacht and race imagery
- Political cartoons and social satire
- Early 1900s tobacco and consumer advertising
The oversized format and dramatic black-and-white illustrations make many pages ideal for framing, studio decor, library display, or Americana collections.
A fantastic surviving example of early 20th century journalism and illustration art, capturing American leisure culture, politics, military history, and city life at the dawn of the modern era.
