The product is a set of two rare antique Swayzee Improved Mason jars from the years 1895-1906. The half gallon jar in a deep green color is a very rare hard to find jar. The base reflects a small mold numbers of 10. The other is a quart size in a light greenish/blue shade. The base reflects a large mold number of 20. Both have a regular mouth size with the smooth lip Mason shoulder seal and the zinc milk-glass porcelain lids.Condition: The rare green half gallon jar is in great condition with some wear/rough spots on the lip. It also has a flaw in the glass which is pictured and circled. The quart is in fair condition with a couple cracks on base from the center swirl and also rough spots on lip chip (see pictures). These were made by the Swayzee Glass Company, which operated in Swayzee, Indiana (and later Marion, Indiana) before being sold to the Ball Corporation in 1906.
Produced during the late 19th and early 20th centuries (c. 1895 – 1906). Features embossed lettering reading "SWAYZEE'S IMPROVED MASON". They are commonly found in aqua blue or deep aqua. They are handblown so they have characteristics like side seams, bubbles in the glass, and a shoulder seal meant to be used with a zinc cap (such as a Boyd's cap). These are listed in the Red Book No. 13 The Collector's Guide to Old Fruit Jars page 424 #2780 & 2780-1.
