This sale is for 1886 History and Camp Life of Company C 51st Regiment, Massachusetts Volunteer Militia in North Carolina. The book was a part of my father's collection of antique books on the Civil War. The book is in poor to fair condition. It has a hard cover. The front cover and back cover is still tight. However, there are some interior pages that are becoming detached from the book. The pages are yellow and have a musty smell from years of storage. There are several stains throughout the book and some pencil marks on the inside cover. Please see all photos for details and condition.
The book features details about the Civil War in North Carolina from Whitehall to Kinston to New Bern. It includes the March to Pollocksville, Life at Fort Macon and other east coast cities.I remember my dad at night sitting in his rocking chair with one of his books in his hands reading for hours and taking notes if it pertained to North Carolina. My dad was an avid historian and a Civil War Relic Hunter from the 1960's-1980's. He used his books to learn about the Civil War and to locate sites in Eastern North Carolina where he could search for Civil War Relics. I hate to see this book go, but I do not have a space for it. It is time for this book to find a new home.
I selling the book for my mom who now lives in an assisted living center due to dementia and a stroke. All proceeds go back to her for her use and care.
Shipping is by USPS and will cost $10.95 for shipping to a US continental address only. Payment is due within 5 days of the end of the sale.
