Sergeant Abram J. Shew

Company I, 10th New York Heavy Artillery

Offered is an authentic original United States Civil War discharge certificate issued to Sergeant Abram J. Shew of Company I, 10th New York Heavy Artillery.

This historic document is dated July 18, 1865 and records Sgt. Shew’s honorable discharge at Petersburg, Virginia, only months after General Robert E. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox.
