Reverend Gilbert Haven (1821–1880) was a prominent bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church and one of the most outspoken, progressive abolitionists of the late 19th century. He is widely remembered for his radical stance on civil rights, advocating not just for the end of slavery, but for full social integration, women's ordination, and interracial marriage. [1, 2]
