Original 1845 steel engraving titled “Blackfoot Indian on Horseback,” published in the February 1845 issue of Graham’s Magazine.The image was engraved by Rawdon, Wright & Hatch after the work of noted frontier artist Karl Bodmer. Printed inscriptions include the artist and engraver credits and “Engraved expressly for Graham’s Magazine.”Presented under glass with a gray mat and metallic-silver-tone frame. The reverse has an older paper backing, hanging wire, and a handwritten identification reading “Graham’s Magazine February 1845 Bodmer.”Condition: The engraving appears clean and sharply printed, with minor age-related toning or small spots visible. The frame and backing show normal wear, scuffing, punctures, and aging. It has not been removed from the frame for inspection. Reflections visible in the photographs are from the glass.This is an original period magazine engraving—not a modern reproduction and not the larger hand-colored Bodmer aquatint.
