1829 Scottish Holy Bible printed in Edinburgh by Sir D. Hunter Blair and M.S. Bruce.
Title page reads:

Printers to the King’s most Excellent Majesty.
1829
This is an early 19th-century Scottish Bible with an elaborately blind-tooled leather binding featuring Gothic/architectural decoration. Approximate dimensions: 6 × 3.75 × 2.75 inches (15.2 × 9.5 × 7 cm).
Binding and binder’s ticket
The original leather binding is present but is in poor, fragile condition. The leather has extensive lifting, splitting and edge wear, including a substantial horizontal split across the binding. There is significant deterioration to the leather and underlying binding materials.
A binder’s ticket is present inside the front cover and reads:
“Bound by
W. CHALLONER
60 HENRY ST.”
The identity and location of this binder have not been independently established, so the ticket is being shown and transcribed as found rather than attributed to a particular city or are handwritten inscriptions of historical interest.
A faint inscription beginning with the name James is present on the first page, alongside the binder’s ticket.
A second faint inscription is present on the final surviving page, opposite the back cover. It appears to include the name Forbes(?) Baker, a reference to the Revd Edward Jones, and wording indicating that the book was a present from him in 1829.
Some of this handwriting is difficult to read, so the transcription is necessarily tentative. Please examine the photographs rather than relying on the transcription for the exact wording.
Important completeness note
Pages 769 through 792 inclusive are missing. This is a total of 24 consecutive missing pages.
The Bible is therefore incomplete and is being sold in its present condition.
Condition
The binding is severely worn and fragile, with extensive leather deterioration, lifting, splitting and edge/corner wear. The book should be handled carefully.
The pages show age-related yellowing, staining and handling/storage wear. Please examine the photographs carefully for the condition of the pages and binding.
24 pages (769–792 inclusive) are missing.
The inscriptions and binder’s ticket are present as described above.
I have not attempted to clean, repair, flatten or otherwise restore the binding.
This is a previously owned 1829 antique Bible, sold As-Is / As-Pictured. Condition has been described based on visual inspection. Because of the age and fragile condition of the binding, please review all photographs carefully before purchasing.
Additional photographs can be provided if needed.
Shipping
The Bible will be carefully wrapped and cushioned and packaged to minimize movement and stress on the fragile binding during transit.
Shipping will include tracking and insurance.
