For your consideration we offer a spectacular matched pair of mid-century reticulated composite canteen vases. Inspired by a French High Classical design and finished in a vivid shade of aqua, the vases feature a foliate and scrolled open fretwork finished in a rich golden hue on the front and back. Perfect for your silk or dried arrangements as the design does not permit them to hold water, the vases stand 11" in height, measure 8" wide, and 3.5" in depth front to back. The 4" opening is finished with a rolled lip that is encircled with applied fleurs-de-lie. A few scant flea bites are seen on close inspection at the lip of both pieces, but these are neither distracting or visible unless intentionally seeking them out. They are in otherwise beautiful vintage condition with no chips, cracks, prior repairs, or other compromising imperfections found. The hallmark is seen at the base. Wear is appropriate for age and history of use, so please review the photos as they are a descriptive part of the listing. Retailing for $160 each when new, they represented a substantial home decor purchase in the late 1960s/70s.
