Yellowstone, Montana, Wyoming Territory autographs, R.B. Harrison, Scouts, 1883: $159.00
Up for sale are seven really great figures in the Montana Territory, Wyoming Territory and Yellowstone Park. All but one of these signatures come from 1883, as the signatures were taken from a Western Frontier Hotel that hosted President Chester A. Arthur\'s Yellowstone Expedition tour from the same year. This group consists of Russell B. Harrison, son of President Benjamin Harrison. From 1878-1890, Russell was the U.S. Army Military Assay in Montana. In 1898-1900 he was a Major and Lt. Colonel in the Spanish American War. He died in 1936. Lt. George Bell was in the Civil War from 1861-65. He was a logistic specialist in Yellowstone Park eventually becoming a Brigadier General before retiring. He died in 1907. Dan Christie Kingman was a Chief Engineer with the US Army from 1875-1916. He was instrumental in the building of the Panama Canal and Yellowstone roads and bridges. He died in 1916. 2nd Lt. Stephen Crosby, 12th Infantry, was in the US Army from 1877-1898. He was a legendary scout in the Western Frontier. He is deceased. Brigadier General Wilds Preston was in the US Army from 1884-1920. He was an expert Geographer and Explorer and was instrumental in mapping and exploring the Montana Territory as well as Yellowstone Park. He was also commissioned in WW1 as a Brigadier General. He died in 1929. Lt. J.P. Thompson was based at Fort Missoula and was part of the military presence during President Chester Arthur\'s Yellowstone Expedition. John Milton Worth was a Civil War Confederate soldier from North Carolina, where he eventually was elected as a Senator. During the Yellowstone expedition he was based out of Billings. He died in1899. An extremely interesting historical group of lead men that opened the west. Please ask any questions.
