WWII WW2 Original War Poster General Order Army Military Visual Aid Paratrooper:
$850.00

This is an original WWII poster \"3rd General Order\" issued by the CRTC (Cavalry Replacement Training Center)as a visual aid for soldiers. This poster is from the 1940s and measures roughly 16 x 21 inches. This is an extremely rare poster.
The artwork is reminiscent of the style of the famous \"Joe Dope\" and \"Private Snafu\" characters, with the look and feel of a comic-strip cartoon illustration.
This poster is in very good condition with excellent color and fantastic artwork. It does have border wear, fold line wear (there is one horizontal fold), is slightly \"dusty\", small tears, missing paper on the border, \"ghosting\", and general wear. Please see all photos for the condition as the photos are part of the description.
This poster will be carefully packed. Please contact me if you have any questions.
The 11 General Orders were standing instructions that U.S. soldiers serving as guards / sentries were expected to know and follow. They covered protecting the post, staying alert, following the chain of command, reporting problems, and challenging unauthorized persons.
The traditional 11 General Orders for a Sentry were:
  1. To take charge of this post and all government property in view.
  2. To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert and observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.
  3. To report all violations of orders I am instructed to enforce.
  4. To repeat all calls from posts more distant from the guardhouse than my own.
  5. To quit my post only when properly relieved.
  6. To receive, obey, and pass on to the sentinel who relieves me all orders from the commanding officer, officer of the day, and officers and noncommissioned officers of the guard only.
  7. To talk to no one except in line of duty.
  8. To give the alarm in case of fire or disorder.
  9. To call the corporal of the guard in any case not covered by instructions.
  10. To salute all officers and all colors and standards not cased.
  11. To be especially watchful at night, and during the time for challenging, to challenge all persons on or near my post and to allow no one to pass without proper authority.
