Size: Medium Standardized in 1933, the Type A-8 summer flying helmet was made of unlined cotton-gabardine for warm-weather aviation. This particular piece features a fleece/shearling-lined leather chin cup pad and lacing adjustments. It exhibits wartime modifications/wear typical of early-to-mid WWII aircrews. 2) U.S. Army Model M-1938 Canvas Leggings (Gaiters)
Markings: Ink-stamped interior 2-R (Size 2 Regular) with contract stamping. Adopted in 1938 to replace WWI wool puttees, these heavy khaki canvas gaiters feature brass lacing hooks, eyelets, and under-foot stirrup straps. Designed to protect the lower leg and keep debris out of soldiers' boots, they were widely used by infantry and dismounted troops throughout WWII.
