WWII Soldier’s Medal Numbered, Named & Officially Engraved to *Robert Geheringer*.
Officially government engraved Soldier’s Medals are very hard to come by and seldom see the light of day. The fact that this one is also numbered makes it even more rare. It’s number is #5443. It features a slot brooch and comes complete with a pinback ribbon bar, lapel pin, extra ribbon in a titled case. In terms of condition, this medal set is in great shape!
Geheringer’s Soldiers Medal award citation reads as follows:
“Robert Geheringer, 35403989, Technical Sergeant, Corps of Military Police, Camp Hulen, Texas, for heroism displayed at Palacios, Texas, June 4, 1943. In the early morning hours of June 4, 1943, Technical Sergeant Geheringer and Private Lynch were looking for a Private George Johnson who had held up with a pistol the “Play-Land Arcade” in Palacios, Texas. Private Johnson was located on the roof of a building. Technical Sergeant Geheringer directed Private Lynch to put up a ladder along the side of the building. Technical Sergeant Geheringer then climbed the ladder to the top in the face of great personal danger, ordered Private Johnson to get up and raise his hands above his head and then walked out on the roof and disarmed Private Johnson. Residence at enlistment: Bucyrus, Ohio.”
