They were used not only by cavalry units, but also to transport supplies, pull artillery and equipment, and support troop movements in areas where mechanized transport was limited.The Military Horse Festival was therefore held to honor and memorialize the horses that had served and died during the war.The postcards depict military horses, soldiers caring for them, and mounted troops. Each postcard bears a 2-sen First Nikko National Park stamp and a special commemorative cancellation reading:“Sino-Japanese War Military Horse Festival Commemorative – Tokyo Central – October 24, 1939.”The cancellation itself features a horse motif, tying the postal history directly to the event.What makes this group especially interesting is that the postcards, stamps, special cancellation, event notice, exact date, and military theme all remain together as one historical set.Military history often focuses on soldiers, aircraft, tanks, and weapons.
