WW2 Photo German Army Heer NCO Binoculars Troop Transport Train Soviet Archive:
$17.99

17059 Original WWII Photo – German Wehrmacht NCO with Binoculars at Troop Train (Soviet Trophy Stamped)

Description:An outstanding original 4.5 x 3.25 inch deckle-edged WWII snapshot photograph depicting a German Wehrmacht Heer soldier (NCO) standing along a railway platform.

  • Subject: Features a young German soldier in full tunic and field cap holding a pair of 6x30 Dienstglas military field binoculars.

  • Setting: Standing beside a wooden military troop transport boxcar with German chalk markings reading "Express Transport..."

  • Historical Soviet Capture Provenance: The reverse features official Cyrillic Soviet archive/censorship stamps, including an oval document stamp with red ink notation and the bottom stamp reading "ПОГАШЕНО" (Pogasheno – Decommissioned / Archive Cancelled), indicating this photo was seized as a trophy piece by Red Army intelligence at the end of WWII.

  • Dimensions: Measures approximately 4.5 x 3.25 inches with classic period deckle edges.

Condition:Good vintage condition with strong subject contrast. Features minor surface hairline scratches and light pencil lines across the image as visible in scans. Authentic Soviet archival rubber stamps on reverse. Please inspect scans for complete visual detail.

Looking closely at the chalk handwriting on the side of the wooden railway car to the soldier's right, the inscription reads:

  • Top line: „Geheim“ (or an abbreviation/unit designation like „Gef.“ or „Express“)

  • Bottom line: „Truppentransport“

Translation:

"Troop Transport" (with the upper word indicating either a classification like "Secret" [Geheim] or a priority transport label).

This confirms that the boxcar was specifically chalked and marked for military troop movement during the war.
