WW1 1917 Trench Line Western Front Hilly Terrain World War I - Original Photo:
$30.00

An original photograph from World War I, acquired from a large collection of western front world war I photos.

Type & Size: A 9.5x7" original photograph.
Condition: Original to the era and in good to fair antique condition; may have missing portions, age wear, smudging, corners may have slight damage or some light creasing. This particular set is on old and fragile paper so there is a little more chipping and flaking than we normally see. Please see photos.

The photograph depicts a landscape on the Western Front during World War I, showcasing a fortified trench line stretching across a hilly terrain. The distant mountains and cloudy sky in the background contribute to the bleak and desolate atmosphere typical of war fronts. There are no soldiers or active combat visible in the image, which focuses on the defensive structures and natural features of the location.

The Western Front was a major theater of war during World War I, with significant battles including Verdun and the Somme. The front lines stretched from the North Sea to the Swiss border, and trench warfare was a defining characteristic. The fortifications and barbed wire shown in this photo were typical defenses used to prevent enemy advancement and protect troops from artillery and small arms fire.

Visible in the image is the marking "B-4380" in the lower left corner, which could indicate a catalog or reference number used for archiving or identification purposes. There is no other visible text, signs, or brand names in the photo, and no identifiable individuals are present. The back of the photograph simply contains the initial "B."
