Title: Vintage Hand-Carved Indian Rosewood Elephant Sculpture with Faux-Bone Inlays
Description:
Up for sale is a beautiful, substantial vintage hand-carved solid hardwood elephant statue featuring exceptional traditional Anglo-Indian artisan craftsmanship.
The primary body is carved entirely out of a single dense piece of premium Indian Rosewood (Sheesham). This high-grade wood possesses a magnificent natural property known as chatoyancy. When placed in natural sunlight, the deep chocolate-brown and dark-ink ribbons beautifully shift angles, projecting vibrant reddish-bronze and golden underlying highlights.
The face and feet feature meticulously detailed traditional inlays, utilizing faux-bone material to create cleanly set, contrasting white eyes and toenails.
* Species Style: Traditional Indian Elephant design (featuring dual rounded cranial domes on the head and a gently curved level back).
* Dimensions: Stands approximately 9 inches tall, measures 10 inches long from trunk to tail, and is 3.5 inches wide. The elephant weighs a solid 3 pounds.
Condition Profile:
Excellent vintage condition with no deep structural cracks, splits, chips, or glued repairs on the wood structure. The surface layer is beautifully preserved and displays a rich, glossy natural luster. Both inlaid eyes and all toenails are securely intact. Please note: As is standard for old folk-art carvings, the removable insert tusks are missing. The pre-drilled tusk holes are clean, clear, and perfectly intact, allowing for effortless custom replacements or a flawless, smooth tuskless display.
Item will be securely bubble-wrapped and double-boxed to ensure guaranteed safe delivery. Comes from a clean, smoke-free home!
