This is an authentic pre-war piece of American industrial history. This antique 1930s Ray-O-Vac torpedo-style flashlight is fully operational and beautifully preserved. It features a heavy-gauge solid copper body, a brass collar accent, and the highly collectible translucent red plastic safety signal ring. The chrome sliding switch mechanism is securely riveted to the frame and reads \"MADE IN U.S.A.\" and \"PAT. 1,774,722\".Condition Details
Unlike most electronics from this era, the battery chamber is clean and free of destructive battery acid corrosion, leakage, or rust. The factory threads screw and unscrew perfectly. Remarkably, it retains its rare, original internal cardboard battery insulator sleeve completely intact. The flashlight has been fully disassembled, cleaned, and tested, and it turns on reliably with a warm, steady vintage glow. The exterior copper body carries a wonderful, authentic patina with light surface scratches and micro-pitting consistent with nearly a century of age. It has not been aggressively polished, which preserves its historic look. The translucent red plastic top extension is clean, uncracked, and secure. Please note that the translucent red plastic signal lens has internal crazing and micro-fractures as shown in the photos, but these are surface age marks only. The plastic remains completely solid, sturdy, and structurally sound with no deep or through-cracks. This natural aging is very common for 1930s plastics and serves as excellent proof of the flashlight\'s authenticity.Specifications
It operates on two standard C-cell batteries, which are not included. It comes complete with a working incandescent bulb and a highly reflective silvered mirror dish.
