Vintage $1 Airplane 1940-1950's Era Blue Poker/Casino Chip ~ AIRPORT CLUB IN CALIFORNIA
FRESH ESTATE FIND!!
Interesting old Large Crown mold chip - featuring a mid-century twin prop airplane, popular in the 1940s and ‘50s. The date of this chip is 1949 or 1950 (see more below).
1.5 inch diameter, feels like it’s made of clay or some such.
Both sides were photographed to give you a good idea of condition (could certainly use a good cleaning – I sold it as found). No returns, so kindly ask any questions prior to offerding.
If you like stuff like this, maybe watch my listings, as I have quite a few different antique gaming chips from this purchase that I will be listing soon.
Thanks, God bless, and make it a GREAT day! ;0)

AIRPORT CLUB
5 Pacific Highway
Seal Beach, California
Type: Card Room
Status: Closed
Open: 6/9/1950, Close: 1953
Licensed bingo hall and poker parlor owned by Jimmy V. Arnerich and William L. Robertson. It was forced to close in 1953 when Seal Beach citizens voted by a narrow margin to ban all gambling in the city.
T. R. King sold more than 38,000 of these large crown chips in five denominations to the Airport Club between 1949 and 1950. Note: Significant color variations exist in these chips. About 22,000 were hot stamped using "old colors" (likely USPC Co. manufactured) large crown chips, and about 17,000 were hot stamped on "new colors" (T. R. King manufactured) large crown chips.
