The listing for this item is for 1 pillow covering.
I have 2 for sale.
The pillow cover was purchased in the year 2000 in Bruges, Belgium. There are two pillow covers available for sale. They are made of Belgian Linen featuring Richelieu cut work embroidery (also known as broderie Richelieu).
The design features, heavy, buttonhole or satin stitches, framing, floral, boutiques, with the surrounding background fabric, carefully cut away. The delicate thread bridges connect connecting the isolated shapes are a hallmark of this technique.
Bruges Belgium is globally renowned for its centuries old lace making and textile Heritage. Local boutique shops featured find linen cut work pieces like these two pillow covers around the year 2000.
I have never used these. I have just brought them out of my hope chest!
Care instructions: hand wash in lukewarm water, using a gentle clear liquid detergent or linen soap. Do not ring or scrub the cut work regions. To dry the pillow cover, roll it flat inside a clean white towel to press out excess moisture, and then lay it flat to air dry.
Iron wild the linen is still significantly damp, turn the peace face down on top of a thick padded, white towel and iron from the reverse side. This prevents the delicate cut work edges from catching and forces the embroidery to pop up beautifully on the front.
Note: these pillow covers have been wrapped in tissue paper in a bag in my hope chest for 26 years. I have never washed them nor have I ironed them and I am not going to iron them for the photographs here.!!
