This is a complete, unused example with its original matches intact and unstruck. The glossy red cover retains exceptionally vibrant color with metallic gold lettering. The spine is printed "GWEN GAILLARD, OWNER" and the cover reads "THE OPERA HOUSE, NANTUCKET ISLAND, MASS."

The Opera House opened on South Water Street in 1945 and became one of Nantucket's best-known restaurants and gathering places before closing in the mid-1980s. The restaurant has an important connection to Nantucket sailing history: TheOpera House Cup was conceived at the restaurant in 1973 by a group of local sailors and friends of owner, Gwen Gaillard. The classic-yacht race continues on Nantucket today.
