Władysław Pytlasiński was a legendary Polish strongman, circus performer, and world-champion wrestler from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Born in 1863, he was a massive pioneer of classical Greco-Roman wrestling and heavy athletics.
Pytlasiński was the \"father of Polish wrestling\" and a vital figure in the Golden Age of strength sports in Europe. Operating alongside other legends like Georg Hackenschmidt and Stanislaus Zbyszko, he popularized weightlifting techniques and physical culture across the continent.
He was famous for his proficiency in classical heavy lifts, including the \"two hands anyhow\" and the kettlebell \"hacke\" squat. Beyond his own competitive career, Pytlasiński was an elite teacher. He discovered and trained legends of the wrestling era, most notably the three-time World Heavyweight Champion, Stanislaus Zbyszko.
