The collection features 20 labeled gemstone varieties, originally represented by both a rough specimen and a polished stone. The case contains 37 of the original 40 specimens, including 19 polished stones.

Both the rough and polished Blue Tourmaline specimens are missing.
The rough Agate specimen is missing; its polished example remains.

Both metal clasps are functional and securely hold the case closed, although one clasp is slightly bent.

The green and yellow ribbon inside the lid remains securely attached.
Original printed gemstone labels remain in place and legible.
No manufacturer markings are present on the case.
The interior lid reads "Precious Stones of Brazil" in five languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, and German.
The age and manufacturer of the collection are unknown.
