Vintage Museum Replicas Viking Frankish Winged Spear 1990 Medieval ReproductionImpressive full-length Viking / Frankish Winged Spear reproduction from Museum Replicas Ltd., acquired in 1990 and preserved in a private historical arms collection for more than 35 years. This distinctive early medieval European spear features a long, leaf-shaped steel spearhead with projecting wings at the base of the blade, mounted on a full-length wooden shaft. The surviving original Museum Replicas catalog documentation identifies this model as the Viking Winged Spear, based on a historical Frankish example preserved at the University of Oslo.According to the original manufacturer documentation, winged spears of this general design were used throughout early medieval Europe beginning around 600 AD, including among Germanic and Norse peoples. The catalog describes the spearhead as manufactured from heat-treated high-carbon steel, making this a substantial historical reproduction rather than a lightweight decorative imitation.A particularly appealing vintage Museum Replicas piece with documented collection history dating to 1990.Details* Maker: Museum Replicas Ltd.
