Vintage Mid-Century Modern carved monkeypod wood tropical fish wall plaques, offered as a matching pair. These striking fish feature a wonderful stylized design with sweeping fins, elongated tails, large pierced eyes, and dramatic open-cut details.
Hand carved from solid monkeypod wood, each fish displays beautiful natural grain and warm golden-to-deep-brown tones. One of the fish retains the original “MONKEYPOD WOOD” stamp on the reverse, along with vintage brass hanging hardware.
The design has a fantastic 1960s–1970s Polynesian Modern / Tiki / Hawaiian-style look and would be perfect for a vintage tiki bar, beach house, tropical décor collection, or Mid-Century Modern interior.
Each measures approximately 15 inches long. Both are in nice vintage condition with expected minor surface wear consistent with age. Please review the photographs carefully as they are part of the description.
Sold as a pair.
A distinctive set of vintage monkeypod carvings with excellent sculptural form—much more dramatic than the typical smaller souvenir fish.
