Navajo Sterling Silver Hand‑Stamped Cuff BraceletBy Richard Jim (RJ)
41.76 grams • Signed RJ • Mid‑ to Late‑20th Century
This striking Navajo sterling silver cuff is the work of Richard Jim, a respected Diné silversmith known for his refined, architectural approach to traditional stampwork. The bracelet carries a balanced, sculptural presence, weighing 41.76 grams and shaped with the clean, tapered lines that define Jim’s contemporary style.
The surface is adorned with deep, symmetrical hand‑stamped motifs, arranged in radiating arcs and geometric forms that create a rhythmic interplay of light and shadow. Each mark is cut with precision, reflecting the artist’s steady hand and mastery of traditional Navajo techniques. The cuff’s folded edges add dimension and movement, guiding the eye along the length of the bracelet while emphasizing the purity of the silver.
Richard Jim’s hallmark — “RJ” in block letters — is clearly stamped on the interior, confirming the piece’s authenticity. Active from the late twentieth century onward, Jim is part of the generation of Navajo artisans who carried forward mid‑century design traditions while introducing a modern minimalism. His work is admired for its clarity, balance, and the quiet strength of its composition.
This bracelet is a refined example of Jim’s craftsmanship: bold yet understated, traditional yet contemporary. It stands as a wearable piece of Navajo artistry, suitable for both collectors and those who appreciate the elegance of hand‑wrought silver.

Note to potentialbuyers:
I am liquidating my collection of Native American art, jewelry, and vintage and antique artifacts.
I deliberately do not clean the silver items because manycollectors, myself included, prefer the natural patina that accumulates onvintage and antique sterling silver. I may occasionally buff the highlights ona piece when I handle or wear it, but I do not disturb the deep patina in thenooks and crannies of a hand-wrought or sand-cast piece. Even cast piecesbenefit from deep patina.
All bead necklaces have been maintained over the years. As Ilist them, I check each one to ensure it does not need to be restrung. If restringingis needed, I have it done professionally. Therefore, any strung item purchased fromme is either on its original material in excellent condition or has recentlybeen professionally restrung using quality, long-lasting materials, unlessotherwise noted.
I stopped actively collecting in 1989. While I haveoccasionally added a piece over the years, the bulk of this collection waspurchased before 1989.
Thank you for considering my treasures.
