Message me if you\'re interested in combining shipping.Vintage Lot of 9 AUTOPOINT Advertising Giveaway Mechanical Pencils - Circa 1971/1972The mechanical pencils included in this lot are model no. 116 (but the model number is not printed on imprinted anywhere on the pencils). These pencils were advertised in a 1973 catalog (not included in this listing) as: \"Nos. 16/116, Slim, Deluxe, Paneled Barrel, Available in all colors, metal cap, Fingergrips available in all colors; Black shipped unless color specified. Barrel Colors: Black, Yellow, Grey, Orange, Olive, Turquoise, Red, Blue, Green, Maroon, White.\"Note: The Autopoint italic logo imprinted on the barrels of the listed pencils (i.e., registered by the Cory Corporation) is an older logo. It does not resonate with the period in which the model of these pencils was introduced. From many pencils and models that came from a NY reseller who sold me a big stock from Bob Amo\'s collection, I found (but not 100% confident) that it seems Autopoint kept using this italic logo in 1971 before quickly abandoning it on the same models produced in 1972, where no logo was imprinted at all, just the name Autopoint preceding the dealer\'s info.
All mechanical pencils in this lot takes 0.9mm leads.Selling Terms: I am selling as is, as photographed, without return. Condition: Unknown condition. The mechanical pencils listed in this sale mechanically work; however, the ferrules are stuck against the norm with this model, which means it is about to break. Please be aware that the ferrule will break if you try to take it off. If it doesn\'t, then there is a chance to use sandpaper to make the barrel less tight on the ferrule. It is a risky operation, especially with the possibility that the ferrule is glued to the barrel, although less likely with this model of AUTOPOINT mechanical pencils. Also, a lot of rust exist on the erasers, ferrules, caps, pocket clips, etc. The pocket clips are also rusted from below as shown on the marks on the instructions sheets that came with the pencils. The erasers are not usable due to age.The ruler and the background sheet showing in the photos are not included in this listing. The Autopoint sleeve is included in this listing and only takes any 8 of the 9 included mechanical pencils.I believe that the mechanical pencils included in this listing were produced in the very late of 1971 and were giving to the Autopoint dealer in Buffalo, NY, around January of 1972 (this information comes from the box that came with these pencils (i.e., not included in this listing). These pencils came with many other mechanical pencils from that NY dealer (Bob Amo) with different printings/imprints on the ferrules, barrels, etc.The pencils included in this listing are Autopoint \"dealer\" pencils, not sales sample pencils. For those who are not familiar with the difference between anAUTOPOINTDealerand anAUTOPOINT Sleasman/Saleswoman/Salesperson, an AUTOPOINT dealer is the one who was hired by the AUTOPOINTcompany to contact other local businesses for mass productions as well as to hire sales personnel to go with sales sample kits and show the sales sample pencils to local businesses. To be distinguished from any Autopoint sales sample pencils (not included in this lot), the Autopoint dealer pencils are sales giveaways without having the exact model number imprinted or printed on the pencils. The Autopoint dealer who owned the listed sales giveaway pencils, Robert (Bob) D. Amo, was also given the title of an AUTOPINT District Manager. Most of the pencils that came from Bob Amo\'s stock were from the mid 1960s to early 1970s.More about Bob Amo (i.e., Robert D. Amo): The Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI in 1998 celebrated Bob Amo for his work with the FBI as a special agent between 1951 and 1957. The 1998 Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI also mentioned that Bob Amo worked as a sales manager between 1967 and 1972. Almost all the Autopoint stock that belonged to Bob Amo (i.e., that I purchased from a NY reseller) resonated with this exact period, with the name Robert D. Amo or Bob Amo mentioned several times as an Autopoint District Manager. What is also remarkable is that the late Bob Bolin (i.e., Robert Luke Bolin) shared online a 1962 Autopoint Newsletter confirming Bob Amo\'s attendance at the Autopoint\'s NY Sales meetings (probably as a salesman from the Buffalo, NY area). The meeting was held in Buffalo, NY, at the Clinton Aire Hotel on March 17, 1962. Again, I am selling as is, without return.
