Vintage Japanese Yakusugi Cedar Wood Chouju Trays – Set of 2
Thank you for viewing this item.
This listing is for a set of two vintage Japanese wooden trays made from Yakusugi (屋久杉 / Yakushima cedar).
The original box is labeled “Yakusugi Chouju Bon” (屋久杉 長寿盆).
Yakusugi is cedar from Yakushima, an island in southern Japan renowned for its ancient cedar trees. These small trays feature beautiful, closely spaced natural wood grain patterns, giving each piece its own distinctive appearance.
The warm reddish-brown color and fine grain make this an attractive example of traditional Japanese woodenware.
The set includes two trays and the original storage box.
Approximate Size
Diameter: approximately 67.5 mm / 2.66 in
Please refer to the measurement photos for details.
Condition
The wooden trays themselves are unused old stock and have been kept in storage for many years.
Due to their age and long-term storage, there may be minor surface marks, discoloration or other age-related changes.
Please note that the original storage box is in heavily aged condition.
The box shows considerable wear, staining, discoloration, spots, scuffs, peeling and other deterioration from long-term storage.
The inner cloth also shows noticeable age-related staining and discoloration.
The box is included as an original period accessory and should be considered heavily worn / aged rather than being in collectible condition.
