Vintage Japanese silver-plated (not verified) cigarette / jewelry / trinket box, marked HS inside a diamond and MADE IN JAPAN on the underside.

A substantial, surprisingly heavy box with what appears to be a silver-plated metal exterior, hinged lid, stepped base, and fitted natural wood interior. Originally likely intended as a tabletop cigarette box, but it also works beautifully as a jewelry box, keepsake box, trinket box, or desk accessory.

Believed to date approximately from the 1950s–1960s. Exact year and maker are (not verified, not magnetic) metal exterior

Condition:
Original unrestored vintage condition. Exterior shows considerable tarnish, oxidation, discoloration, spotting, scratches and areas of plating/finish wear consistent with age and use. Wood interior has staining, discoloration and other signs of use.

The box has not been polished or restored.
