A striking vintage French equestrian competition plaque from Mayenne, France, dated 1980. This decorative cast metal award features a rich blue ground with raised gilt lettering and ornate flourishes around the border.
The inscription reads:
“Concours Spécial de la Race Percheronne, Mayenne 1980, Juments Non Suitées, 2me Prix”
It was awarded as Second Prize in a special Percheron breed competition for mares shown without foals. The Percheron is one of France’s best-known draft horse breeds, making this an appealing piece of authentic French equestrian history.
The reverse is hand-marked “Triger,” prize-winning horse. The combination of the vivid blue finish, aged gilt details, and original handwritten notation gives the plaque wonderful character.
A distinctive decorative piece for a French country interior, library, study, tack room, mudroom, or gallery wall, and an especially nice find for collectors of vintage horse memorabilia or French agricultural awards.
