Vintage First Trust Bank (Ontario, California) Centennial Return Keychain
Banking Advertising Ephemera – Established 1887
Offered is a vintage First Trust Bank of Ontario, California return-if-lost keychain, issued in 1987 to commemorate the bank’s 100-year anniversary (1887–1987).
The front features a raised streetcar motif with the inscription:
“ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF SERVICE – FIRST TRUST BANK – SINCE 1887”
The reverse reads:
“DEPOSIT IN ANY MAILBOX – RETURN POSTAGE GUARANTEED – P.O. BOX 3670 – ONTARIO, CA 91761”
With a stamped serial number (67873), indicating it was part of a registered customer key return system.
First Trust Bank operated in Ontario, California from 1887 until 1995 before being absorbed during regional banking consolidation. This keychain represents a now-obsolete banking service practice in which lost keys could be mailed via U.S. postal service and returned to the registered customer.
