Vintage pair of colorful Chinese ceramic figurines in the mudman / Shiwan-style tradition, each seated on a textured green rock-form base.
The male figure appears to represent Zhang Guolao, one of the Eight Immortals of Chinese Daoist mythology. He is depicted as an elderly bearded figure in a yellow robe holding a segmented instrument resembling his traditional fish drum / bamboo yugu, the attribute commonly used to identify him.
The second figure depicts a seated woman in a red robe holding a floral basket. Her exact identity has not been confirmed. A flower basket is an attribute associated with Lan Caihe, one of the Eight Immortals, who may be depicted in male, female, or ambiguous form; female Immortal figures such as He Xiangu are also frequently shown with floral of 2 vintage Chinese ceramic figurines
