The interior is finished in a dark brown tone, contrasting with the multicolored exterior. The underside bears a two-character Chinese mark, “孟臣” (Meng Chen), and features a central circular opening.

The vessel may have been intended as a planter or decorative horticultural vessel, although its original function has not been definitively established. Its unusual shape and colorful glaze make it an interesting piece for collectors of Chinese ceramics and decorative arts.
