Beautiful, authentic vintage marquetry keepsake box from the renowned Casa Krentel & Cia, manufactured in Pelotas, Brazil. This mid century piece features a stunning hand-cut wood inlay scene on the lid, showcasing a classic Brazilian tropical landscape with palm trees and a mountain backdrop. The box is constructed from native Brazilian hardwoods, known for their rich grain and natural colors. The interior is marked with the official “Krentel & Cia Pelotas” stamp. The outside also has two tags. One with the model number and one with the where it was purchased. The marquetry on the lid is in good vintage condition with vibrant wood tones. The wooden box itself is sturdy and hinges are functional. Please note that the original lock mechanism is missing (see photos of the keyhole). The lid still sits flush, but does not lock. There is light surface wear/scuffing consistent with age, which adds to the vintage character. Box is rectangle shape 7 1/8 in x 4 1/2 in. Height is 2 1/4 in. I believe the model number to be 214. Pre-owned. See photos.
