Vintage Brown Leather Aviator Pilot Skull Cap. Size 7 3/8. The cap is in very good condition overall, with some wear on the top back, per the pics.
This is avintage multi-panel tan leather flight helmet, a design that matches civilian and military pilot gear produced between the1920s and World War II.
- Panels and Stitching:The cap is constructed using a multi-paneled dome pattern designed to closely contour to the head to seal out wind in open cockpits.
- Goggle Retention Flaps:The rectangular leather patches stitched on the sides function as snap-fastening loops or channels. These were used to secure the elastic strap of aviation goggles so they wouldn\'t slide off during flight.
- Chin Strap and Buckle:It features an adjustable leather chin strap paired with a friction-style metal slide buckle to lock the cap firmly in place.
- Ear Flaps and Neck Cover:Extended side flaps provide full coverage over the ears and jawline. The dark fabric inner lining visible at the edge suggests it was designed for cool or temperate weather comfort.
