Japanese Mixed Metal Bird Grapevine Okimono Sculpture Signed Detachable Bird
I will be mailing this with signature required
A beautifully detailed Japanese-style mixed-metal sculpture featuring a bird perched among large grape leaves and clusters of grapes. The contrasting metallic finishes give the leaves, bird, branches, and fruit plenty of detail and character.
The bird is detachable from the leafy base, which is part of the sculpture’s construction.
Details:
* Subject: Bird among grape leaves and grape clusters
* Style: Japanese mixed-metal okimono
* Approximate dimensions: 8” x 8” x 6”
* Signature/mark: Two-character mark on the underside of the bird; exact reading has not been confirmed
* Condition: Pre-owned, with visible age-related wear and finish variations. Please examine all photos closely.
Identification disclaimer: The Japanese origin and okimono identification are based on comparison with another seller’s listing showing what appears to be the same design. I have not independently authenticated the maker, signature, metal composition, or date of manufacture. The other listing describes its example as prewar Japanese, but that dating has not been independently verified for this piece.
Please review all photographs and make your own assessment of the item’s identification and age before purchasing. There is a hairline crack by the upper portion of the body on the back leg. From a smoke free home. Pictures are part of the description.
