Vintage Brazil 1889 500 Réis Coin Souvenir Ashtray – Hammered White Metal – 3.5”
Add a unique piece of Brazilian tobacciana to your collection with this vintage souvenir ashtray featuring what appears to be an authentic 1889 Brazilian 500 Réis coin mounted in the center of a beautifully hand-worked white metal ashtray.
The ashtray features an attractive repoussé leaf design, hammered finish, scalloped rim, and two integrated cigarette rests. The mounted coin displays the iconic Liberty bust on the obverse and the Brazilian Republic reverse with “Ordem e Progresso” and “500 Réis.”
The mounted coin is non-magnetic, characteristics consistent with an authentic period 1889 Brazilian 500 Réis silver coin. The coin has not been removed from the ashtray or professionally authenticated. The ashtray itself is also non-magnetic; however, no maker’s marks or silver hallmarks were found, so it is being offered as a vintage white metal souvenir ashtray.
