Striking vintage African cast-metal figurative sculpture attributed to the Akan/Asante (Ashanti) artistic tradition of Ghana.
This unusual figure stands approximately 6.25 inches tall and features an exceptionally elongated body, outstretched arms, distinctive curved/plumed headdress and integral round base.
The surface retains a substantial green verdigris-style patina with areas of exposed warm bronze/brass-toned metal, giving the figure a wonderfully aged and primitive appearance. It has NOT been polished, and I have intentionally left the existing surface and patina intact.
Akan and Asante metalworkers of Ghana are particularly well known for figurative cast-metal works, including traditional lost-wax casting. The construction and appearance of this piece are consistent with that broader tradition; however, its exact age, maker, metal composition and casting method have not been independently authenticated.
