Authentic - not a reproduction or reprint - this 100-year-old-plus invoice from Selz Chicago is dated December 30, 1908. It measures approximately 7 by 8 1/2 inches, is in good condition with natural tan patina from age, enhancing its charm, with some minor edge wear and a small crease in the bottom right-hand corner. Includes both pre-printed and hand-written elements. A glimpse into early 20th-century commerce, it features evocative lithography and is perfect for framing/home decor or scrapbooking/collecting. About the company:
Selz, Schwab & Co., the Chicago-based shoe manufacturer featured in this invoice, is no longer in business. Founded in 1871 by Morris Selz and reorganized as Selz, Schwab & Co. in 1878, by the early 1900s it had grown into one of the Midwest\'s largest shoe producers, employing over 1,500 workers across multiple factories. However, due to the onset of the Great Depression, the company closed its doors forever in 1929. Today, it survives only in ephemera like this document.
