Thirty pun-named characters, ten uncut strips, one complete Trash Can Tots run — the kind of thing that used to come one strip at a time out of a vending machine by the grocery store exit. Nobody assembled the whole cast back then; you got whichever three the machine handed you. This is all thirty, together, never vended.
🎪 Cheap Thrills From the Coin Slot
Trash Can Tots skipped the toy aisle entirely and went straight into vending machines — the same racks that spat out bouncy balls and capsule toys. Dinosaur Dracula reviewed them once and called the art "the work of a second grader. An extremely awesome second grader," which is about the nicest way anyone's ever described a vending-machine sticker. They're riding on the coattails of Garbage Pail Kids — the Topps Company's 1985 parody of the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls, with artwork from Art Spiegelman, Mark Newgarden and painter John Pound — but with the gross-out dialed way down. There's also a second Trash Can Tots run out there with different names entirely (Slobby Bobby, Nerdy Gertie.); this one's the other complete cast, thirty for thirty.
No copyright line, no printed date — a straight-up 1980s vending relic that never made it into a machine.
